                      John P. Maketo - Executive Director

                      John P. Maketo is the serving Executive Director, Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development (ZIMCODD). He also doubles up as the Secretary General of Southern Africa People’s Solidarity Network (SAPSN) a regional network of social movements whose thrust is social and economic justice and proffering people to people solidarity.

                      Nineteen (19) years working experience in developmental, public resource governance in Zimbabwe and in the SADC region. Areas of specialty and interest include resource governance, accountability, economic justice programming.  Has worked with various national and regional organisations including National Association of NGOs (NANGO), Transparency International Zimbabwe, Fight Inequality Alliance, Southern Africa People’s Solidarity Network (SAPSN), and Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development (ZIMCODD). Proven track record of leading teams towards sound leadership and management abilities; ability to conceptualise, design and implement evidence based strategic advocacy initiatives cutting across multiple stakeholders especially on fiscal transparency, accountability, and public participation within the good governance framework.

                      Mucha Midzi - Head of Programmes

                      Mucha Midzi is the Head of Programmes at ZIMCODD and leads programme design, implementation, learning and partnerships. Her work sits at the intersection of macroeconomic policy and socio-economic justice, helping to ensure that economic governance delivers for citizens.

                      She leads and supports work on debt justice, fiscal space for essential services and accountable public finance. She also drives ZIMCODD’s climate resilience programming, with a feminist thrust that strengthens women’s leadership and access to resources in community adaptation and recovery.

                      Mucha holds a Master of Science in Development Studies from the Women’s University in Africa and brings over 13 years of experience in economic justice advocacy, public finance monitoring and feminist movement building.

                      She brings a unique blend of technical rigour, strategic foresight and a deep commitment to making public finance work for the most marginalised.
                      Prior to joining ZIMCODD, Mucha served at SymaconSolutions (8 years) as the Research and Business Development Executive and Consulting Associate, delivering strategy development, organisation development and project management solutions to various organisations and government departments.

                      Her experience spans local, national and regional assignments, including regional evaluations across 16 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa, intersectional gender analysis, programme design and value chain analyses supporting women and youths’ economic empowerment.

                      Nqobizitha Mlambo – Programme Officer for Citizen Engagement and Advocacy

                      Nqobizitha Mlambo is a Social and Economic Justice Activist and currently serves as the National Coordinator for the Fight Inequality Alliance Zimbabwe. With over five years of experience in Zimbabwean civil society, he has led and contributed to impactful advocacy initiatives focused on citizen engagement, accountability, and equitable development.

                       

                      He previously worked as Programme Officer for Citizen Engagement and Advocacy at ZIMCODD (2018–2022), where he played a key role in strengthening grassroots participation and driving policy influence. Beyond his institutional work, Nqobizitha is also a vlogger, using digital platforms to amplify critical conversations on inequality and social justice.

                       

                      He holds a BSc (Hons) from the University of Zimbabwe (2016) and an MSc in Politics, Governance & Development Policy from the University of Manchester (2023).

                      Ellaine Chiedza Manyere is a strategic Feminist Movement Builder and Communications Strategist with eight years of experience shifting power to women and youth. Utilizing the Global Organising and Leadership Development (GOLD) framework, she has mentored 15 social movements across climate, economic, and gender justice sectors, transforming grassroots mobilization into national policy influence. A 2022 Netherlands Embassy Gender Champion, Ellaine blends her expertise in collective action with creative storytelling using podcasting, film, and art to expose systemic inequalities and demand gender-transformative public services.

                      Gracia N. Mashingaidze is a Programmes Assistant at the Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development (ZIMCODD). A Social and Economic Justice Ambassador, with a strong commitment to pro-poor and people-centred development.

                      Her work focuses on public policy, public finance management, and addressing systemic and structural inequalities. She is particularly passionate about strengthening women’s voices and participation in livelihoods and value chains, with a keen interest in advancing inclusive and equitable economic systems.

                      Stephen Chidhau - Communications Specialist

                      Stephen Chidhau is a Communications Specialist with extensive experience in strategic communications, advocacy, and digital storytelling across Southern and Western Africa. He focuses on amplifying voices around social and economic justice, transparency, citizen engagement, and climate and energy transitions.

                      He has led impactful communication strategies and capacity-building initiatives, helping to shape narratives that drive public awareness, influence policy, and strengthen civic participation.

                      Stephen holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Zimbabwe and is passionate about using media to advance accountability and systemic change.

                      Arnold Mabasa Damba - Economist

                      Arnold Mabasa Damba is an Economist at ZIMCODD with over 12 years of experience in macroeconomic analysis and statistical systems. He holds a Master of Arts in Economic Policy Management from the University of Zambia (UNZA) and a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Economics from Midlands State University.

                      Prior to joining ZIMCODD, Arnold served as a Chief Statistician in the Macroeconomic Statistics Division of Zimbabwe’s national statistical agency, where he specialised in the compilation, analysis, and interpretation of key macroeconomic indicators. He was also a technical member of the Macroeconomic Framework Committee, contributing to national economic projections and forecasting processes.

                      Arnold has extensive experience in socio-economic research, having contributed to the Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee (ZimVAC), supporting livelihoods assessments across both urban and rural communities. In addition to his public sector work, he has over five years of experience as a private consultant in social and economic statistics, providing analytical support on development and policy-related initiatives.

                      Rudo Saruchera - Finance and Administration Manager

                      Rudo Saruchera joined ZIMCODD in December 2024 as Finance and Administration Manager. She is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant, Registered Public Accountant (RPA) with the Public Accountants and Auditors Board (PAAB) Zimbabwe.

                      She is a holder of a bachelor’s in commerce accounting Honors Degree from Midlands State University. She joined Grant Thornton Chartered Accountants in 2011 for Articles of Cleckmanship Training and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accounts Board (ACCA).

                      She has over a decade post qualification experience in financial management, financial reporting, internal and external audits, compliance, grants management, training of sub grantees, taxation, fleet management, procurement, drafting and reviewing of financial and procurement policies, budget preparation and monitoring in various sectors of the economy.

                      She has a passion for working with poor and marginalised communities in Zimbabwe and beyond. She desires to contribute to the eradication of poverty and empowerment of less privileged women so that they can have an inner stronger voice that will assist them to protect themselves from gender-based violence and embark on income generating projects within their communities. She envisages communities where the rights of people are respected, resources are distributed equally and those in power act for the common good.
